We all have a story. It began somewhere. Home can be many things. Home is usually our beginning. For some, home is where they begin and where they end. For others, home is only something they find after many years of searching. For still others, home is something they ran away from or got tired of, only to realize years later how much they truly love it and miss it and how comfortable it feels when they go back there. For me, this is the story of Greece. When I was in grammar school, my mom would take us to Greece for 2-3 months every summer. This meant 7 trips and as I grew older I complained that I wanted to stay back in Chicago to hang with my friends.
So after our 8th-grade trip, I didn’t go back to Greece again for 11 years and it was in March to bring my grandfather back here. It was then 18 years until I went back. I’ve now realized what a mistake my hormonal teenage self made. I want to try to go to Greece every summer from this point forward in my life for at least 2 weeks each summer. It always feels like I’m coming back home. My DNA just feels comfortable there. And I come back to Chicago re-energized and full of life!
This is my indie folk-rock song about coming back home. According to my, it’s the best song on this 6th album. As I continue to search for my signature vocal style, you might be surprised to find out that there’s barely any reverb on this vocal track. Yep, that’s almost all me. Plus, it barely needed any tuning as I’ve continued to hone in my understanding of melody.

How does music touch you?
Music is very emotional for me. It touches me in many different ways and usually they mood or genre of this song decides where I go.
What do you think music does for us all?
I think music is the heartbeat of life. Either consciously or unconsciously it guides us, it inspires us and makes us tick.
How important is it to be authentic with lyrics?
Authenticity in lyrics is probably the most important factor. I think you can definitely tell when someone has written the song lyrics and when they have not. The lyrics have to mean something to you. Otherwise, make sure you sing them as if they do.
Why do you make music?
Music it is a catharsis and I make music because I breathe!
