“I had made so many mistakes when it came to my relationships and love life,” says GAYLE. “i pushed every possibility of it away until somebody came into my life that i didn’t want to push away, and i couldn’t tell if it would be worth it or not to open myself up to the possibility of caring about somebody deeply.”

Gayle says the things that we are all thinking about but don’t have the guts to admit.

A study of the human experience volume one by GAYLE is the freshman artists Debut EP after the enormous success (538 million plays) of her ever popular single, ‘abcdefu’. First track, ‘Luv Starved’, has a slightly bitter theme which seems to be the general direction of the entire EP.

The 17-year-old singer told ABC Audio that she’s not singing about scandalous topics for its own sake — it’s just what Gen-Z does.  “We can say more shocking things just to get people to pay attention — which seems so, like, shocking and daring to people,” she said.

Lyrics

I was never shown how to love
So I did my best to guess
Everythin’ a man ever wants
A tiny girl in a dress
A trophy for his friends
That I didn’t even like, so
Tried to learn from mistakes
I haven’t made one in months
But it’s gettin’ harder to take pushing away everyone
You just had to show up
And yeah, I’m not mad about it

Swear to God, I’ma change, but I’m agnostic
All the loneliness is gettin’ so exhaustin’
Sick to my stomach, yeah, I’m feelin’ kinda nauseous
And I can’t tell if it’s you

I’m so love-starved
Knowin’ if I’m ready to trust you is goddamn hard
You’re pickin’ at skin and bones
I feel my lips, they’re turning blue
Are you great or something new?
I’m so love-starved
Are you actually my type or do I just need a bite?

Is it the fact that you’re there, do I actually care?
The potential of the latter’s got me pullin’ my hair out
I’m a skeleton of the love I once had
Yeah, it was so bad, but you’re nothin’ like that, yeah

Swear to God, I’ma change, but I’m agnostic
All the loneliness is gettin’ so exhaustin’
Sick to my stomach, yeah, I’m feelin’ kinda nauseous
And I can’t tell if it’s you

I’m so love-starved
Knowin’ if I’m ready to trust you is goddamn hard
You’re pickin’ at skin and bones
I feel my lips, they’re turning blue
Are you great or something new?
I’m so love-starved
Are you actually my type or do I just need a bite? Yeah

(Oh-oh, oh-oh) sick of bein’ taken advantage by shitty guys
(Oh-oh, oh-oh) tell me if you’re one of ’em, I’m losin’ my mind
(Oh-oh, oh-oh) are you feeding me affection or just a bunch of lies?
Is it me? Is it you? I don’t really got a clue
I don’t got much left, but I might give it all to you

I’m so love-starved
Knowin’ if I’m ready to trust you is goddamn hard
You’re pickin’ at skin and bones
I feel my lips, they’re turning blue
Are you great or something new?
I’m so love-starved

The visualizer on Spotify adopts a flower theme as GAYLE roams around a green house and plays a piano covered in roses at an empty theater. The set on the video leaves me wondering if the green house and flowers isn’t something more heavily cued to her past.

What’s your favorite song on the EP?
